It seems the sun has a got a mind of its own and has set a target temperature to achieve while baking us all in the process. Whew... the afternoons are unbearable and what with the peak period of summer, the Agni Natchathiram starting today the hot summer seems to loom large.
The hot weather only makes it very difficult to engage the children but I guess the holidays are a perfect time for the kids to be taught some culinary skills. I believe that the kids should learn the art of their basic sustenance, who knows when it might come in handy for them. This simple juice was all done by them with me just standing next to them and monitoring them.
Sweet Lime / Mosambi / Saathukudi Juice
You’ll Need:
Saathukudi / Sweet Lime / Mosambi | 5 |
Water | 1/4 to 1/2 cup |
Sugar | 5 tbsp |
Salt | 2 pinch |
Chaat masala (optional) | 1/4 tsp |
Ice cubes | As needed |
Method:
Wash and cut the sweet lime into 2 and squeeze it over the manual citrus juicer and extract the juice or you can also remove the outer layer and the fine inner white skin of the fruit and extract juice by running it in a blender.
Add water if preferred, sugar, salt and the chat masala powder and mix till the sugar gets dissolved. Serve in tall glasses over ice cubes and enjoy.
My kids loved it very much and were so proud that they had made it all by themselves and had a cup of the juice refrigerated to give their Daddy and managed to click along with book they are currently reading. This is off to my Blog Birthday Celebrations event "FUN N SUN".
